In front of one dollar

One day I read an interesting question in a book, so I share it with my friends.

The question starts with two choices:

You get 1 million dollars today, or you get 1 dollar today, 2 dollars tomorrow, 4 dollars the day after tomorrow and so on, each day twice the day before, for 30 days.

All my friends are attracted by the 1 million dollar upfront. But when they know that the second choice counts up to 5 billion dollars, are very shocked and cannot believe it.

This question tells us, we shouldn't anticipate getting rich in one night, rather to be patient and work on constantly increase ones income.

Today it may only be one dollar, but you work hard and tomorrow you will earn two. Everyday will get you a step forward.
